Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between Counselling and Psychotherapy ?

Counselling often refers to shorter-term work, focused on a specific issue/goal, while psychotherapy involves exploration of more complex issues, at a greater depth and over a longer time-frame. It may involve exploring past events, present difficulties and our hopes for the future.

How many sessions will I need ?

This entirely depends on the issues that you would like to explore, what your goals are, how much time you can commit. The first few sessions will help us to establish a time-frame together. You will never be pressured about how many sessions you should have, it will be your decision.

Shorter term work to address specific concern such as bereavement , a work issue or a recent traumatic event may be between 6-12 sessions or more if required

It may be that you want to make changes in your life at a deep-rooted level. There are no time limitations on this type of in-depth work, you can attend sessions for as long as it feels helpful to you.

What are your fees and cancellation policy ?

My Fee for a face to face meeting is £50 for 1 hour . Sessions via Teams or telephone are £45 for 50 minutes. Fees are payable after each session by cash or bank transfer.

I ask for 48 hours notice if you are unable to attend so that I can use the appointment for another client. The full fee is payable if the appointment is unattended or cancelled with less than 24 hours notice. I will of course try to reschedule your session if a mutually convenient diary slot is available.

I am currently waiving my cancellation fee for those clients that are unable to attend if they are suffering with the Coronavirus.

I'm still not sure. Can I speak to you first?

Absolutely. I know it can be daunting trying to find a Therapist that you feel you will be able to work with and trust. I believe the quality of the relationship is at the very heart of successful therapy.

With this in mind, I offer a free and informal short telephone consultation. This allows us to talk through any concerns or questions you have before deciding to book an initial session with me. Please call or email me, I aim to respond within 48 hours.

Will everything I say be confidential ?

Yes. Confidentiality is fundamental to the work we will do together. I will explain my policy to you when we meet. I will only ever share what you say with another person if I have reason to think that there is a risk of serious harm either to you or to another person

How do I book an appointment with you?

You can contact me by email through the links on this webpage or telephone 07484 211020. I aim to respond within 48 Hours.
